Jammu, Nov 14 (PTI) Hundreds of part-time workers todayprotested in front of the divisional commissioner's officehere, demanding regularisation of over 60,000 such people whoare working in various government departments in Jammu andKashmir.

Trade union leader Gafoor Dar, who led over 400protesters, accused the state government of dilly-dallying,despite announcing in the Assembly, during the budget sessionin January this year, that it will formulate a regularisationpolicy.

Similarly, Dar rued, the government did not fulfil itspromise of setting up wage heads for providing smooth monthlysalaries to these workers, who, according to him, have notbeen paid wages for months.

Dar asked the government to immediately announce policyof regularisation for over 60,000 daily wagers and casualworkers of various government departments.

He also demanded that the wages of anganwadi workers bemore than doubled from a meagre Rs 3,700 to Rs 8,000-9,000.

In case the government fails to announce such measures,Dar warned of district-wide protests in the state during thecoming Assembly session in January. PTI AB DK HMB BDS HMBNSD.
