New Delhi, Nov 14 (PTI) Rich tributes were paid toIndia's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru by a host ofleaders on his 128th birth anniversary today.
President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M VenkaiahNaidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered PanditNehru.
"On his 128th birth anniversary, my homage to ShriJawaharlal Nehru, our first Prime Minister," President Kovindsaid on twitter.
"Wish the nation on the occasion of birth anniversary offirst Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru,today," Naidu tweeted.
Modi, who is in Manila to attend the India-ASEAN summit,also paid tributes to Nehru.
"Tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birthanniversary," he wrote on Twitter.
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, who is campaigningin Gujarat, also tweeted, "Today we remember a brilliantcompassionate man. He reminds us: 'there is nothing morehorrifying than stupidity in action' - Jawaharlal Nehru."Former president Pranab Mukherjee and former primeminister Manmohan Singh paid floral tributes at Nehru'smemorial at Shanti Van early in the morning.
A host of other Congress leaders including former Delhichief minister Sheila Dikshit and the state Congress chiefAjay Maken were also present at the memorial.
