A fundraiser in this regard was held over the weekend ina Maryland suburb of Washington, which was attended by theIndian Ambassador to the US, Navtej Sarna and others.

The American India Foundation (AIF) Clinton Fellowship isa volunteer service programme matching young professionalsfrom the US and India with development organisations andsocial enterprises across India.

The AIF runs a programme called the William J ClintonFellowship for Service programme where young professionals getto volunteer and work hands-on for 10 months in India ondevelopment projects in the fields of education, livelihood,technology, and public health, the AIF said in a statement.

The AIF Clinton Fellowship is helping create a newgeneration of leaders that will help bring about social andeconomic change.

Fellows support organisations at a crucial moment ofscalability through collaboration, capacity building and skillsharing.

The AIF Clinton Fellowship is creating lasting tiesbetween the US and India by strengthening the developmentsector and equipping the next generation of leaders to advancepositive social change.

Fellows and the organisations they serve are committed toempowering the lives of marginalised communities in India.

Following, the tragic devastation caused by the Gujaratearthquake in 2001, then US president Bill Clinton and primeminister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee recognised the need fora philanthropy platform that would connect the world's twolargest democracies.

The AIF has since built on this vision and createdcountless opportunities for India's poor to live successful,productive lives while creating impactful change at anunprecedented scale, changing the lives of more than 3.1million of India's less fortunate, according to informationprovided on the AIF website.
