Los Angeles, Oct 13 (PTI) Amazon Studios has suspendedRoy Price, vice president of Amazon Studios, from the companyfollowing a harassment claim from one of the producers workingwith the streaming platform.
The allegations stem from a 2015 incident involving IsaHackett Dick, executive producer of Amazon's "The Man In TheHigh Castle" and upcoming "Electric Dreams", according to TheHollywood Reporter.
"Roy Price is on leave of absence effective immediately,"an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement.
Amazon said the studio's COO Albert Cheng will take overthe division on an interim basis.
The statement also said that the company was reviewingoptions for their projects with The Weinstein Co.
Price's suspension comes after Hackett went public withher "shocking and surreal" experience with the programmingchief in July 2015.
The producer said she reported the incident immediatelyto Amazon executives. An outside investigator was brought into speak to Hackett as well as the Amazon executives.
Hackett said Price, who is also the global head of PrimeVideo content, did not appear at any events involving hershows thereafter.
Amazon is also reviewing the two shows from the WeinsteinCo — Matthew Weiner's "The Romanoffs" and director David ORussell's untitled drama — in the wake of rape and sexualharassment allegations against former co-founder HarveyWeinstein.
Actor Rose McGowan, meanwhile, criticised Amazon founderand CEO Jeff Bezos in a series of tweets for killing one ofher scripts when she told them about Weinstein.
"@JeffBezos I told the head of your studio that HW rapedme. Over & over I said it. He said it hadn't been proven. Isaid I was the proof," she tweeted, identifying Weinstein asthe assailant for the first time.
McGowan spoke last year about being raped by an unnamedstudio head, but did not name Weinstein. The producer reacheda settlement with McGowan when she was 23, after "an episodein a hotel room" during a film festival, according to the NewYork Times expose on Weinstein. PTI BKBK.
