Itanagar, Oct 13 (PTI) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra today called for a composite package for infrastructure development along the borders of the state.

Arunachal Pradesh is a border state sharing its boundary with Bhutan, China and Myanmar and there is an urgent need to focus on development of socio-economic infrastructure in the border villages, a Raj Bhawan communique quoted Mishra as saying.

"People of these villages serve a vital purpose of keeping the border intact," he said.

Referring to the internal security problems in the eastern part of the state, the governor emphasised on the need for focus on developmental activities in those areas.

"To shun away the dual menace of opium consumption and induction of unemployed youth in insurgent groups, there is a requirement of a comprehensive package for development of the three districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding," Mishra stressed.

He advocated setting up of entrepreneurship development centres in each district to facilitate start-ups.

Stating that Itanagar is the only capital which is not on the air route map of the country, the governor called for ensuring effective air connectivity in the state at the earliest. PTI UPL RBT .
