Guwahati, Oct 13 (PTI) The Assam government has fixed theminimum wages for workers employed in loading and unloading inthe entire state.
The Labour Welfare Department has issued a notificationfixing the minimum rate of wages in different categories, arelease said.
A decision to this effect was taken after taking intoconsiderations the recommendation of a committee constitutedon June 22, 2015 and recommendation of the Advisory Boardconstituted on July 12, 2017.
In addition to the fixed minimum wages, the workers/employees shall be entitled to Variable Dearness Allowance.
Moreover, the workers/ employees are entitled to aday of rest in every week as per existing provision under theMinimum Wages Act, 1948, the release added. PTI DG PRPR.
