judgesAhmedabad, Oct 13 (PTI) The Congress today asked PrimeMinister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah to explain the"kind of business" Jay Shah's company was doing and demandedan inquiry by a commission of sitting Supreme Court judges.

Addressing a joint press conference here, Congressleaders Prithviraj Chavan, Raj Babbar and Randeep Surjewalasaid the nation wants to know the truth about the kind ofbusiness that Jay Shah, Amit Shah's son, had.

They demanded setting up of an inquiry commissioncomprising sitting judges of the Supreme Court.

They also asked the prime minister to break his silenceon the issue and reiterated the demand for Shah's ouster asthe BJP chief.

The fresh attack came on a day when Shah ruled out anycorruption in his son's business dealings and said that it hadnot received government land or contract worth even a rupee.

News portal 'The Wire' in its recent report had claimedthat Jay Shah's firm saw an exponential surge in its turnoverafter the BJP came to power in 2014.

The Congress leaders said the Income Tax departmentshould have probed the "mysterious" closure of the firm in2016.

The Congress also questioned the manner in which RailwaysMinister Piyush Goyal came out in defence of Jay Shah bycalling a press conference.

Earlier in the day, the BJP chief had dismissed theallegations of corruption vis-a-vis his son's firm.

On October 9, Jay Shah filed a criminal defamation suitin a metropolitan court in Ahmedabad against sevenrespondents, including author of the article and editor ofthe web portal. PTI PJT PD NSK SRY AKKAKK.
