Phagwara, Oct 13 (PTI) A three-storey garment showroom ina crowded marketplace here was gutted today, resulting inlosses of lakhs of rupees, the police said.
No loss of life or injury was reported in the incidentat the Gaushala Bazaar here.
Fire tenders rushed to the 'Fancy Boutique' showroom anddoused the fire in over three hours.
Anil Kumar, the owner's son, said that expensive ready-made garments, furniture and other valuables worth Rs 60-70lakh were gutted in the fire.
The exact figure can be ascertained only after assesmentby officials concerned, he added.
"The watchman and some morning walkers noticed smokebillowing from the upper storey of the showroom around 4.30am. They informed us and we rushed to the site," Kumar said.
The police is yet to ascertain the cause of the fire. PTICORR VSD MGBSA.
