Los Angeles, Oct 13 (PTI) Actor Jason Momoa has apologised for a six-year-old joke he cracked about raping "beautiful women" in "Game of Thrones".
The 38-year-old actor has asked for the forgiveness of his fans and followers for the distasteful comments he made during a Comic-Con panel interaction in 2011, after a clip resurfaced online in wake of allegations of sexual harassment against media mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Momoa, whose character Khal Drogo raped his wife Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) in the HBO series, took to Instagram where he posted a apology note saying he is "still severely disappointed in myself at the insensitivity of my remarks that day".
"I awoke in Australia to the justified reactions by many people to a distasteful joke I made years ago in Hall H for which I am sorry... I know my sincerest apology won't take away those hurtful words.
"Rape and sexual harassment can reach anyone and I have seen first-hand its painful torment among members of my own family and friends," the actor wrote.
In the old clip, Momoa is heard saying about his experience of working on "GOT", "But as far as sci-fi and fantasy, I love that genre. There's so many things you can do, like rip someone's tongue out of their throat and get away with it... rape a beautiful woman, you know?" The actor's answer is met by audience's roaring laughter and fellow panelists facepalming alongside him as he goes on to call for another question. PTI RDS RDS .
