Mathura, Oct 13 (PTI) A teacher, who was allegedlykidnapped for a ransom of Rs 10 lakh, was rescued within hourswith the police arresting his captors from here, an officialsaid today.
Vidhi Chandra Sharma was kidnapped on Wednesday afternoonand rescued by a joint team of the Mathura police and theUttar Pradesh Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) in the earlyhours of yesterday, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP)Swapnil Mamgai said.
The main accused, Neeraj, and five of his associates werearrested after a brief encounter, he said.
Sharma was kidnapped from Gokul Barrage when he was goingto Abairani to give Rs 1 lakh to his sister, who had recentlysuffered a paralytic attack, the officer said, adding that themoney has been recovered.
The kidnappers had demanded Rs 10 lakh ransom from hisson, who informed the police, Mamgai said, adding that twocountry-made pistols, cartridges and the car used in the crimehave been seized. PTI CORRANB.
