(Eds: repeating after rephrasing intro)By Lalit K JhaWashington, Oct 13 (PTI) There is a "positive mood" aboutIndia in the US and the American investors have a clearunderstanding of the reforms that the government isundertaking for the expansion of the economy and its futurepotential, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said.

Jaitley, who is on a week-long visit to the US, isleading a high-powered Indian delegation to attend the annualmeeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World bank.

He has already visited New York and Boston wherein headdressed the investors and held meeting with top corporateleaders, besides interacting with students of the Columbia andHarvard universities.

"American investors have a very clear understanding ofthe kind of reforms that India is undertaking for theexpansion of the economy. They have also a clear idea of thefuture potential," Jaitley said at an event organised by theFederation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries orFICCI at the IMF headquarters here.

"I have found in the last four days that I have beenaddressing investors, meeting investors and dealing with theirqueries. I see a certain positive mood about India," Jaitleysaid yesterday when asked about the feedback he received fromthe Trump Administration officials and US investors.

After his arrival in Washington, Jaitley held meetingswith Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Commerce SecretaryWilbur Ross during which they discussed bilateral trade andeconomic relationship and issues of mutual concerns.

"Appreciated discussing US-India bilateral economicissues" with Jaitley, Mnuchin said later in a tweet.

On the first day of his visit to Washington, Jaitley alsoparticipated in a working luncheon of G-20 Ministers.

He is scheduled to participate in the Annual MeetingsPlenary, G-20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors'(CBGs) meeting and Development Committee Luncheon meetingamong others today.

Later, he will participate in the Finance Ministers'meeting with Multilateral Development Banks and hold separatebilateral meetings with his counterparts from Italy and Iran.

Jaitley's meeting with the Iranian Finance Minister wouldcome hours after US President Donald Trump announces his newIran policy.

Later in the evening, the minister will participate in aspecial event to be hosted by US India Strategic PartnershipForum (USISPF) on the theme of "Indian Economy: Prospects andChallenges".

Jaitley is scheduled to participate in the IMFCRestricted Breakfast Session and its plenary session onOctober 14.

In the afternoon, he will host a lunch for TheConstituency Members consisting of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepaland Sri Lanka. He will participate in the 96th Meeting of theDevelopment Committee Plenary before leaving for India onSunday. PTI LKJMRJ.
