RLSP supports demand for Central University status to PU:
KushwahaPatna, Oct 13 (PTI) Union Minister and Rashtriya LokSamata Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha today said that hisparty supports the long pending demand of Central universitystatus to Patna University which has completed 100 years ofits existence.
The Union Minister of State for Human ResourceDevelopment said it has been long pending demand.
"It has been quite long pending demand to accordcentral university status to Patna university. My partysupports the demand," Kushwaha told reporters here.
He said that it is a coincidence that Prime MinisterNarendra Modi is undertaking a day's visit to the statecapital to participate in a programme relating to educationsector, when his party has completed all its preparations toorganise a mega "Shiksha Sudhar Sankalp Mahasammelan" atGandhi Maidan on Sunday (October 15).
Asked does it not sound absurd that the HRD ministerwas demanding the issue which was well within hisjurisdiction, the minister said that party's demand andgovernment functioning are completely two different things.
Rather he parried the query saying that "Does it notsound absurd when demand for according special category statusis raised while being in the government."Though he did not name Nitish Kumar who has beenvociferously demanding to accord special category status toBihar for its rapid and all round development.
The minister, who was accompanied by senior partyleader Nagmani, said "there will certainly be my role wheneverthe process to accord a Central university status to PatnaUniversity is initiated or taken." PTI ARRG.
