Jammu, Oct 13 (PTI) Pakistan Army's heavy shelling alongthe Line of Control in Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmirtoday forced authorities to shut schools in forward areas.

"The schools along the LoC in Digwar and Khadi Karmarawere closed because of the firing and shelling by Pakistantoday," said Poonch Deputy Commissioner Tariq Ahmed Zargar.

He, however, said the schools have been shut for a day.

Zargar said the situation was under control as firingfrom across the border stopped in the afternoon.

Schools in areas unaffected by the firing remained open,he added.

Pakistani security forces today violated the ceasefirewith India for the second consecutive day. They fired smallarms and shelled the forward areas in Poonch district.

An Indian Army jawan and a porter died in their firingyesterday. Another six were injured.

"The Indian Army is retaliating strongly andeffectively," a defence spokesman said earlier in the day. PTIAB DKABH.
