New Delhi, Oct 13 (PTI) The building department of BJP-ruled SDMC today alleged that an AAP MLA issued threats andbeat up two of its staff during an anti-encroachment drive inHari Nagar area in south Delhi, a charge denied by thelawmaker.

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation in a statementclaimed that Badarpur MLA Narayan Dutt "created a ruckus"while a team of the building department had gone to demolishunauthorised structures in ward no. 97.

The SDMC said it has filed a complaint with the policeafter the alleged incident.

"A complaint has also been filed by the BuildingDepartment against the MLA of the AAP in Jaitpur PoliceStation. The building department was taking action againstunauthorised construction falling in Zone 'O'," it said.

It has been stated in the complaint that immediatelyafter start of the action against ongoing unauthorisedconstruction, the MLA and his associates started "issuingthreats" to an "assistant engineer and a junior engineer, andthen started beating them", the SDMC claimed.

When contacted, Dutt denied the allegation and hit backat the BJP-ruled corporation.

"They (SDMC employees) are corrupt and harass poorpeople. Those who don't pay they demolish their houses. We hadonly intervened to stop the altercation that had broken outbetween the residents of the house and the SDMC staff. Theresidents had come to blows with the staff," he alleged,adding, "We did not threaten or beat anyone." PTI KND SLBTIR.
