Hyderabad, Oct 13 (PTI) Two persons have been arrestedfrom Nagpur in Maharashtra for allegedly cheating five localpersons of Rs 9.75 lakh under the pretext of offering themjobs in the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) project,police said today.

The accused, identified as Rakesh P and K Kavitha,were picked by a Cyber Crimes team yesterday, RachakondaCommissioner of Police Mahesh M Bhagwat said.

He said the bank account in which five victims haddeposited the money is in the name of Kavitha.

"In March this year, Rakesh sent messages to thevictims informing them of job openings in HMRL. They conductedmock interviews over telephone in a bid to make them believethat they will get appointment orders soon. They collectedRs 9.75 lakh from the five persons," the commissioner said.

The victims realised that they were cheated after theaccused duo stopped taking their calls or responding toe-mails.

Police used technical and electronic evidence to traceRakesh and Kavitha.

Rakeh had earlier worked in various projects of aconstruction major and has a thorough knowledge of therecruitment procedure. PTI VVKNSK.
