Dehradun, Oct 13 (PTI) The Uttarakhand Congress haspassed a resolution urging Rahul Gandhi to take over as partypresident.
Moved by the Leader of Opposition Indira Hridayesh in thestate assembly, the resolution was passed unanimously by over200 party members at a meeting of the Pradesh congrescommittee (PCC), held at the state party office hereyesterday.
PCC president Pritam Singh said this is the appropriatetime to elevate the Congress vice president to the top post inview of the proximity of 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
"Rahul Gandhi's able leadership will help us fightdivisive forces," he said.
The Congress is currently conducting organisationalpolls, including for the post of president. The ElectionCommission has set a December deadline for the Congress toconclude the exercise. The All India Congress Committee,however, plans to complete the process by the end of thismonth. PTI ALM MGBSA.
