NAWADA: A 19-year-old woman was allegedly strangulated to death by her in-laws over dowry at Vaniya Bigaha village under Govindpur police station of Bihar's Nawada district late last night, police said.
Acting on an FIR lodged by the deceased's family, the police arrested the woman's husband Shamsher Alam.
Govindpur police station SHO Ravi Paswan said the deceased has been identified as Gulzam Khatoon (19) who was married to Shamsher six months back.
The deceased's relatives have alleged that Gulzam Khatoon's in-laws had been constantly inflicting torture on her to get Rs one lakh from her family.
She was even denied food by her in-laws, they alleged and added that in-laws strangulated her to death after she refused to filfill their demand for money.
The body has been sent to sadar hospital for post-mortem, the SHO said adding, police are investigating the case.
