'Padmavat'Mumbai, Jan 13 (PTI) Union minister Ramdas Athawale todaysaid Bollywood film "Padmavat" should not be allowed torelease till the scenes which were "offensive" to the Rajputcommunity were deleted from it.

He added that he would meet Central Board of FilmCertification (CBFC) chief Prasoon Joshi soon in this regard.

"Changing the name of the controversial film, 'Padmavati'(to 'Padmavat'), is not enough. Till the objections of theRajput community as regards the film are not cleared, itshould not be released," the Union minister of state forsocial justice and empowerment said.

Stating that while the name of the film was changed, thestory and scenes were not, Athawale demanded that such scenesbe deleted before the film was released.

The Karni Sena, a Rajput group opposed to the film, hadstaged a protest outside the CBFC office here yesterday overthe clearance given to the film directed by Sanjay LeelaBhansali.

The Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor-starrer is slated for a release on January 25. PTI MR BNMRC.
