Patna, Jan 14 (PTI) At least 28 persons, including 10women, have so far been arrested in connection with the attackon the cavalcade of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Buxardistrict two days ago.

Altogether five FIRs have been registered inconnection with the incident against 99 named persons and500-700 unnamed ones, Buxar Superintendent of Police RakeshKumar said today.

"We have so far arrested 28 persons - 18 men and 10women - in connection with the stone-pelting incident on CM'scar on Friday," the SP told PTI.

The Chief Minister's convoy was pelted with stonesduring his tour of Nandan village in Dumraon block as part ofhis state-wide Vikas Samiksha Yatra.

Although Kumar remained unharmed, several securitypersonnel suffered injuries and a few vehicles in thecavalcade were damaged in the stone-pelting.

"Those named in the FIRs were identified with the helpof video footages and photographs obtained from varioussources. While 28 of them have been arrested, efforts are onto nab the others," the police officer said.

Divisional Commissioner of Patna Anand Kishore hadvisited Buxar yesterday along with Inspector General ofPolice, Patna Zone, N H Khan.

"A thorough probe is being conducted into the incidentto find out whether the attack was pre-planned and if so, whowere behind it," Kishore said.

Meanwhile, senior RJD leader Jagdanand Singh, who hadearlier been an MP from Buxar, today visited Nandan village.

"The government in the state wants to send the messagethat voices raised in support of legitimate demands will becrushed with iron hand," he told reporters.

"The RJD will not tolerate injustice against poordalits who do not have major demands. They only wanted a wordof assurance from the chief minister that the promises he hasbeen making will indeed be fulfilled," Singh said.

Opposition RJD has been accused by the rulingJD(U)-BJP combine of being behind the attack criticized thepolice action following Friday's incident. PTI NACNN.
