Panaji, Jan 14 (PTI) While media reports have oftenprojected Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar as a politicianwho moves around on a scooter, Parrikar said he no longer doesso fearing an accident.
"People ask me whether I travel on a scooter. I tellthem that I donÂ’t any more. My mind is filled with workrelated thoughts and if I ride my scooter while my mind issomewhere else, then I could meet with an accident," Parrikartold a gathering of BJP workers in Canacona yesterday.
Driving home a point of safety at the gathering,Parrikar said that he now avoids riding or travelling pillionon a scooter.
He added that the state government would be adoptingvarious measures to reduce accidents on the roads of Goa andin the process bring down fatalities.
In the past, media reports have often cited thatParrikar was still riding a scooter in Panaji as he went aboutpurchasing things from the local markets. PTI RPSBNM.
