VIJAYAWADA: The online counseling process of EAMCET 2018 has become troublesome for the engineering college managements, candidates and also for the officials of education department.

Recently, the candidates who opted for certain courses in a college under reservation categories are changing their caste certificates with manual declaration forms and availing the seat. In the ongoing counseling process, a candidate who is under BC-D category as per the documents provided during the verification process, submitted a self-declaration caste certificate with BC-A category and availed admission.

Due to the flaws in the online counseling process, managements of the colleges and officials are struck up and fighting for the ways to resolve it. With these acts, candidates under such particular category are losing the opportunity in getting an admission in better college. Speaking over this, EAMCET- Admissions Convenor GS Panda Das said, "The issue came to our notice and we would hold the admissions of such candidates who changed the reservation categories with self declaration forms. We wanted to make the online counseling process a fool proof one and we would also order for an enquiry and check with the other candidates too."

For the first time, the education department introduced online verification process in EAMCET 2018. However, right from the beginning, candidates faced lot of mess with the online process. The officials of APSCHE, got the data of the students from their EAMCET applications like Aadhaar number, id proofs etc and then during the online verification process of the certificates, the officials tallied them with the data they already have.

As in majority of the cases, the data didn't match, the officials gave an option for the candidates to submit the self declaration form with valid proofs at the help centres and proceed with the counseling. In this way, majority of the candidates in various issues like caste certificate, income certificate, etc, they submitted the self-declaration forms and exercised options for the colleges and courses and went on up to admissions.

Meanwhile, the officials failed to have a check whether the details given by the candidates are true or not. In a random check by an official it came to know that few candidates have changed their categories and availed admission.Speaking to Express, S Varadarajan, secretary of APSCHE said, "As of now, we identified only one candidate has done in this way changing the reservation category from BC d to BC A wantedly for securing a better seat in a college.

We are also checking whether any candidate from BC A category lost the seat by securing a better rank or not and also checking on the other candidates who gave self declaration forms during the counseling process. The issue will be rectified soon."
