Gandhinagar Club A will meet MCC A for the Sanmar-TNTA Chennai City Club League Championship to be held on Tuesday. Title holders Gandhinagar A beat Besant Nagar 4-1 and fixed the summit clash with MCC A, who overcame Egmore Tennis Club 3-0.

Vijay Sunder Prashanth gave Gandhinagar the intitiative by beating Mohit Mayur, who was playing after a month-long injury break, in the first singles match.

Though Prasanth conceded the opening set, he came back strongly to win the match 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. He capitalised on Mohit’s unforced errors and broke him in the sixth and the ninth games.

In the decider, Vijay wore down Mohit and broke his serve thrice to win 6-0 and give Gandhinagar the first match.

In the second singles match, the experienced and smooth stroking Vijay Kannan outclassed Ajay Selvaraj in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. Gandhinagar, then, claimed both the doubles matches, too.
