Vijay Sunder Prashanth gave Gandhinagar the intitiative by beating Mohit Mayur, who was playing after a month-long injury break, in the first singles match.

Though Prasanth conceded the opening set, he came back strongly to win the match 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. He capitalised on Mohit’s unforced errors and broke him in the sixth and the ninth games.
