Dempo continued their aggresive transfer spree, signing up highly rated Indian striker Jeje Lalpekhlua from Pune FC on Friday.
The 22-year-old Mizoram-born striker enjoyed an impressive season with the Red Lizards who finished second in the I-League last year. In 2012, he led the Indian U-22 team which participated in the AFC U-22 qualifiers at Oman. He was also one of the Indian players who were called for trials at Glasgow Rangers in 2011.
Jeje follows former Man City Defender Simon Colosimo, West Ham academy graduate Billy Mehmet and Churchill’s Brazilian midfielder Beto to the Goan club.
Jeje made his debut for India in 2011 and has represented the country in 16 international matches, scoring 8 goals. He scored 13 goals in 15 appearances for Pailan Arrows in the 2010-11 season and was the highest scoring Indian player that year.
