Nidhi Chilumula of India breezed past Japan’s Sanae Ohta 6-3, 6-2 in the second round singles match of the Sreenidhi ITF $10,000 Women’s Tennis Tournament at Sreenidhi International School campus, Near A P Police Academy, Vikarabad Road, on Wednesday.

Meanwhile top seed Rishika Sunkara downed Sowjanya Bavisetti 6-3, 6-1 while second seed Prerna Bhambri ousted Eetee Mahea 6-2, 6-2 in the other matches played on the day. There was upsets of sorts when Portugal’s Barbara Luz put out eighth seed Shweta Rana 6-3, 6-2 in another match.

Thailands’ Varunya Womgteanchi whipped past India’s Sai Samhitha Chamarthi 6-1, 6-2.
