KSEB women outwit Mayor’s Club in National Club Volleyball Championship

All-ropund display helped KSEB women’s team outwit Mayor’s Club, Hyderabad 3-0 (25-19, 25-7, 25-14) in the league match of the National Club Volleyball Championship. In the first set, KSEB and Mayors Club were neck to neck at one stage but KSEB played the big points better to win the set . In the second set, the Hyderabad team was error-prone and outplayed by the Kerala team. Mayor’s Club showed signs of improvement in the final set, but it was too late.

South India Rally

Thirty seven participants, including the likes of Gaurav Gill, will be seen in action in the first round of the AVT Premium-Indian National Rally (South India) Championship from March 22 to 24 at Sriperumbudur. The rally will see nine varieties of cars compete over three physical special stages and a super special stage.

Mahindra will be fielding former National champion Gaurav Gill (co-driver Musa Sherif) and Lohitt Urs (Bonnie Thomas) in the SUV category.

The National Championship will comprise two major classes — Group N, up to 2000 cc and up to 1600 cc. Along with this, the drivers will race in three other categories — the Indian Rally C’ship (4-wheel drive, up to 2500 cc, excluding Turbo), the Junior Indian National Rally C’ship (Group N 1600 cc) and the Indian SUV Rally Championship (up to 3000 cc, including Turbo). The MMSC track will be the centre of the action with the Service Park and one of the three dirt track stages.

Amittrajit Ghosh (co-driver Ashwin Naik) will defend their title in the 2000 cc class in a Mitsubishi Cedia. Pune-based Team Slideways will debut in the championship with two VW Polo cars in the INRC 1600 cc and a third in the junior INRC. The total distance of the rally will be 300km of which 117.5 will be competitive. The rally will begin with the super special stage on Friday, followed by two special stages on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Cricket Tourney

Saveetha University will conduct the inter-engineering college Twenty20 cricket tournament from March 27 to 31 at Saveetha University, Thandalam Campus. Entries close on Mar 20.
