Western Railway edge Chennai Customs in National Club Volleyball C’ship

Western Railway earned a hard fought 3-2 win over Chennai Customs in an exciting men’s match of the National Club Volleyball Championship here on Friday.

Western Railway after winning the first set was a bit lax and thus lost the next two to Chennai Customs. In the fourth set the Railway team was in its element with its key players playing the big points better.

Results: Men: Western Railway, Mumbai bt Chennai Customs 25-21, 21-25, 16-25, 25-20, 15-13; Women: KSEB, Kerala bt St Joseph’s College of Engg., Chennai 29-27,  25-20, 25-19.

Kodaikanal Finish Runners-Up

Kodaikanal University athletics team came second with 74 points — 6 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals — and received the overall runners-up trophy in the All India two-day Women’s Universities Athletics C’ship, held recently at Bijapur. M Anusuya, a first-year under-graduation student, also bagged the individual championship trophy. All 14 participating students have won medals. This is the second achievement of this University this year after they had claimed gold in the South Zone Inter University Kabaddi Tournament.

M Ajay Krishnan’s 76 paved the way for Vigneswara CC to beat Ranji CC by five wickets in a 5th Div ‘D’ Zone league match of the TNCA.

Krishna Scalps Five

Krishna Chaithanya 5 for 12 enabled Harrington Cricket Academy to beat Sacred Heart MHS School by 8 wickets in the final of the Harrington Cricket Academy’s U-14 round robin cricket tournament.
