The mood in the Magnus Carlsen camp is one of optimism. Espen Addestein, Carlsen’s manager says they are confident and after finishing training in Oman, Carlsen feels ready for the battle.
How confident is he playing a match against the world champion? Espen says, “Carlsen is very confident in playing tournaments and this is a sort of tournament as well. He respects (Viswanathan) Anand and knows that he needs to be at his best. He is focussed on that.”
How is Carlsen adjusting to the weather in Chennai? Addestein said the weather is not much of a problem now. “Oman was hot. The weather here is not too hot and is mild now. It is a bit humid but does not present that much of a problem now.”
Espen added they were happy with the arrangements at Hyatt and they were no complaints from their side. When asked if they had anything planned if Carlsen goes on to win, Espen added they would have a celebration but would not think of that now.
The Norwegian media are confident and say that there is unprecedented media attention back home and the public are expecting Carlsen to come through the battle.
