Aravind Wins U-17 Chess

Grandmaster norm holder and top seed Aravind Chidambaram of Velammal School won the U-17 title in the second SVVV Tamil Nadu children’s chess tournament.

The event was organised by Mount Chess Academy and 1000 players participated, including 170 Fide-rated players from various parts of the state. Winners in all eight categories received bicycles.

Results (Top 5): U-17: Boys: 1. Aravindh Chithambaram (Velammal) 7.5; 2. AjayKrishna (Velammal) 7; 3. Selva Bharathy (Velammal) 7; 4. Sai Vishwesh (T Nagar Academy) 6.5; 5. Prakash Ram (T Nagar Academy) 6.5.

Girls: 1. Thamarai Selvi (Velammal) 7.5; 2. Aasha CR (Vivekananda Vidyalaya) 7; 3. Kavya S (Velammal) 6; 4. Sunyuktha CMN (Bharathiya Bhavan) 6; 5. Varsha CR (Vivekananda Vidyalaya) 5.5.
