Lancers Crash to 3rd Defeat

BHUBANESWAR: Kalinga Lancers suffered their third defeat in a row in the third edition of the Hockey India League when they went down 0-2 to Uttar Pradesh Wizards in their own den at Kalinga Stadium Hockey Complex on Saturday.

Netherlands midfielder Bob de Voogd and India forward Ramandeep Singh scored a field goal each in the first and third quarters to give UP Wizards their second win in four matches. With this win, Wizards climbed up to the second position of the league table with 13 points, while Lancers slipped to fourth with seven points from four outings.

Hoping to avenge the 1-5 drubbing they suffered against Wizards at Lucknow two days ago, Kalinga Lancers started proceedings on a positive note, making a couple of forays into the opposition territory.
