Jakupovic to Clash with Han for Singles Title

Han stopped the winning run of 22-year-old Bulgarian Aleksandrina Naydenova 6-1 7-5 in 1 hour and 52 minutes in the other semi final.

  Aurangabad:  Unseeded Dalila Jakupovic of Slovakia, the defending champion, would clash with eighth seed Xinyun Han of China in the singles final of the USD 25,000 Endurance Aurangabad Open Women's ITF Tennis Championships here tomorrow.

In the semifinal played today at the EMMTC courts, the 367th-ranked Jakupovic - who enjoyed a career best ranking of 234 last year - scraped her way past Marie Benoit of Belgium 6-0 4-6 7-6(7-3) after a three-hour tussle.

Both held multiple break points with Jakupovic successfully converting 5 out of 15 as compared to Benoit's 3 out of 8.

 The loser served seven double faults in all while the winner managed to take advantage of five out of the 16 break points that she secured in the two sets.
