NEW DELHI: The recently-launched Indian Boxing Council (IBC) has received a massive fillip in its bid to promote professional boxing in the country with one of the oldest world bodies in the sport — WBA — offering membership to it.
The IBC has received a letter of support and an offer of membership from the World Boxing Association (WBA) besides an invite to the annual convention of the World Boxing Organisation.
“The World Boxing Association family wishes you and your team every success on this great initiative. We will be glad to support and cooperate with the IBC to harvest great achievements working together for the progress of boxing,” WBA vice PresidentGilberto Jesus Mendoza wrote in a letter to IBC President PK Muralidhar Raja.
