Court charges ex-Pakistan test cricketer Ahmed

A local court in Lahore has charged formerPakistan test cricketer Ijaz Ahmed for issuing forged checks worth 10 millionrupees ($105,000) in 2009.

Judicial magistrate Imtiaz Ahmed charged the formermiddle-order batsman and ordered the prosecution witnesses to appear in courton Nov. 10.

Ijaz Ahmed spent more than six weeks remanded in jail in2009 after he was arrested for allegedly writing bad checks to two propertydealers. He was later released on bail.

Ahmed played 60 test matches and scored 3,315 runs beforeretiring in 2001 and also served as Pakistan's fielding coach.
