Durban Test: India Solid at Start

India began the second and deciding test against South Africa solidly on Thursday, moving to 76-1 at lunch on the first day at Kingsmead.

Shikhar Dhawan was out for 29 after an opening partnership of 41 with Murali Vijay. Vijay was 33 not out and Cheteshwar Pujara, who made 153 in the first test, was 13 not out.

India won the toss and batted on a Durban pitch that already looked like a good batting strip and only Morne Morkel managed a breakthrough for the South Africans on the first morning. Dhawan poked at one outside off stump and edged to Alviro Petersen at second slip.

Morkel passed a late fitness test, while South Africa allrounder Jacques Kallis is playing his last test before retiring from the long format.
