Tendulkar's Humbleness is Worth Emulating: Parrikar

Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar is one of the live examples of humbleness despite being a world class sportsman, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said today.

Parrikar was praising Tendulkar while supporting the congratulatory motion moved during the ongoing Legislative Assembly session.

The House congratulated Tendulkar and Prof C N R Rao for being honoured with the prestigious Bharat Ratna award.

"I met Tendulkar recently, he is humble, down to earth person despite being a world class sportsman. His quality is worth emulating," the chief minister said.

"He is an example of how a person can remain humble even after achieving so much success in the career," he said.

The House also congratulated globally noted Goan personalities - Dr Raghunath Mashelkar, an eminent scientist, for being conferred with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, ace tennis champion Leander Paes, a Padma Bhushan awardee, and acclaimed fashion designer Wendell Rodricks, for being the recipient of the Padma Shri award.

The legislators also congratulated Team Goa (India) for winning 92 medals during various sporting events in athletics, table tennis, wushu, taekwondo, judo, volleyball, basketball and football at the Lusofonia Games, 2014.
