Ravichandran Ashwin to act in blockbuster film sequel?

This year, Ashwin has been in great form in Test cricket with both the ball and bat, picking up 72 wickets from 12 Tests.

Recently Indian cricketer Ashwin Ravichandran watched Chennai 600028-II, a super-hit film directed by Venkat Prabhu’s released three weeks ago and decided to express his appreciation for the film on Twitter.

Ashwin, in his tweet said, “What a wonderful movie Chennai 28(2), completely put my life on rewind mode. Genuinely felt I could have been a part of it.@vp_offl."

Venkat Prabhu immediately responded to Ashwin’s tweet said, “ Thank q so much bro!!! Cha missed casting u bro!!! #chennai28III la confirm.”

According to the reports from the entertainment website Behindwoods.com Ashwin was supposed to be cast in an extended cameo for Chennai 28-II but wasn’t able to be a part of the film owing to a tight cricketing schedule.

If the conversation materializes, fans can expect Chennai-lad Ashwin to be a part of the sequel of one the most celebrated sporting films.

Chennai 600028-II released has received a great response from fans and critics alike and went on to register sensational figures at the box office. The first part, released way back in 2007, also tasted similar success, getting the tag of a sleeper hit. The first part’s success was so overwhelming that the movie was remade in Bengali, Sinhalese and in Kannada. It will be interesting to see if the sequel will also be remade.

Meanwhile, Ashwin had a glorious 2016 where he bagged the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for Cricketer of the Year and Test Cricketer of the Year at the prestigious ICC Cricket Awards.

This year, Ashwin has been in great form in Test cricket with both the ball and bat, picking up 72 wickets from 12 Tests, with a miserly average of 23.90 that also includes 8 five-wicket hauls and scoring over 500 runs, which includes two centuries. Ashwin has been rested for the upcoming ODI series against England starting January 15.
