CHENNAI: Decks have been cleared for R Ashwin to play for Jolly Rovers in the Senior Division league of the TNCA, after he got the transfer form signed by Vijay CC cricket in-charge. “Ashwin has got the transfer form signed by the authorised person of Vijay CC. We will register Ashwin with our club, Jolly Rovers, in a day or two,” revealed a highly placed source in Chemplast.
The defending champions, Vijay CC, have not gone for any outstation player. “We have retained the same bunch of players who played last year. We have not gone in for any out-station players so far. We have recruited a young U-19 left-arm spinner Ajith Ram,” informed a senior member of Vijay CC’s think-tank. Government owned teams and nationalised bank teams have not been able to improve their player profile due to lack of recruitment. However AG’s Office has managed to bag the services of Unmukt Chand and Manan Vohra.
“We have got the confirmation that former India U-19 captain and India A captain Unmukt Chand will continue to play for us this season. Manan Vohra, another former India U-19 player, too has confirmed to play for us,” said NS Chaturved, captain of AG’s Office.
IOB, which once had the cream of Andhra and Kerala Ranji players vying for a spot in their team, has decided against outstation players. “We have gone for youngsters Aravindhan, S Siddharth and Akash Ram,” said a source in IOB.
