BENGALURU: The Indian cricket team will have a preparatory camp at the National Cricket Academy here from June 29 to July 4. These will be the first training sessions for  the team under newly-appointed head coach Anil Kumble.

The camp comes just before the four-Test tour of the West Indies (starting July 21), and the long home series against New Zealand after that. It will also enable the former India Test captain to get to know the players and get familiar with their ways. The six days of training will also serve as an opportunity to assess the fitness level of players ahead of a long season where India play 17 Tests by the end of March.

With the team having no bowling coach at the moment, it looks like the former leg-spinner will have to use his expertise in that department as well.
