Uttarakhand, Kerala champs
Uttarakhand beat Tamil Nadu 68-60 in a closely fought men’s final of the 67th senior national basketball championship held at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Puducherry. In the women’s final, Kerala defeated Telangana 68-59, winning the gold after 32 years. The winning teams received Rs 2,00,000 each, while the first and second runners-up were given Rs 1,00,000 and Rs 50,000.
A felicitation ceremony was also held for the national men’s squad that finished seventh at the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge and for the contingent that won bronze at the 21st Super Kung Sheung Cup. The former received Rs 5,00,000, while the latter got Rs 1,45,000.
