BULAWAYO: West Indies won the toss and will bat in the first of two tests against Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club on Saturday.

West Indies captain Jason Holder decided the pitch in Bulawayo was good enough to bat on despite overnight rain and cloudy morning conditions.

West Indies comes off a 2-1 loss in England, a test series where its young team showed some promising signs. The West Indians selected the same team that finished that series.

For Zimbabwe, batsman and former captain Brendan Taylor and fast bowler Kyle Jarvis are straight back into the team after returning from English county cricket to resume their international careers. Taylor last played a test in 2014 and Jarvis in 2013.

Zimbabwe also gave opening batsman Solomon Mire a test debut.
