LISBON: Portugal coach Fernando Santos said Wednesday that winning the 2018 World Cup was possible and that the team's successful conquest of the 2016 European title was proof of their ability.
"The first objective is to qualify for the World Cup and, let's not beat about the bush, win it," said the 62-year-old coach.
"We have never won the trophy but we possess the quality, great players and good coaches."
Portugal's best performance at the World Cup was finishing third in 1966.
