CHENNAI: The fifth edition of Covelong Point Surf, Music and Yoga Festival 2017 will be held at Covelong Point, Chennai from August 25 to 27, 2017. The championship is recognised by Surfing Federation of India. Competition will see top surfers from across the country for the top spots under seven categories apart from Stand Up Paddling.
The categories include novice (U-12); groms (U-16); juniors (17-22 Years); seniors (23-30 Years); masters (31 Years and above); women (all ages); open category (foreign nationals). The festival is set to play host to some of the surfers from Karnataka, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Orissa and Kerala alongside Sri lanka, Australia, France and USA. Local boys Sekar Pitchai, Ajeesh Ali will be the flag bearers for Tamil Nadu in the seniors and groms U-16 category.
The three-day surfing extravaganza is presented by the Chennai based TT Group and produced by EarthSync. Celebrity guests for this festival include cricketers Jonty Rhodes and Murali Vijay along with actors Arya, Jeeva, and Veerabahu.
