Saleem, Loganathan in fray for National six Red snooker championship

SA Saleem, R Loganathan from Tamil Nadu will be seen in action in the qualifying rounds of the 7th National 6 Red snooker championship to be held in the city from Saturday.

CHENNAI: SA Saleem, R Loganathan from Tamil Nadu will be seen in action in the qualifying rounds of the 7th National 6 Red snooker championship to be held in the city from Saturday. Parthiba Rajendran, S Surendran, Uday Kumar, K Rakesh, Kaavya Bharath, Siddharth Rao, G Prabhu, Vijay Nichani, are the other players from Tamil Na­­d­u who will play the first round. “It is a good opportunity for our bo­ys to rub their shoulders ag­­a­i­nst the best in the country and co­­me out rich from the experie­n­­ce. The format is such that any one can upset a fancied player,” said N Ganesh, secretary, Tamil Nadu Billiards and Snooker Association.

Jeppiaar in final

Jeppiar beat Dr Sivanthi 25-13, 25-14,19-25 in the women’s semifinals of the SNJ-67th senior state volleyball championship.

TN has work cut out

Paras Gurbax Arya and NA Chi­n­may picked up three wickets ea­ch to help Karnataka restrict Tamil Nadu to 151/7 at stumps, on the second day of the Vijay Merc­a­h­ant trophy, U-16 tournament played in Hyderabad.

Shabbir wins

Shabbir Dhankot scored 255 and 244 to win the DU Bowl winter bowling league and qualify for the nationals. NT Ganesh who ma­de 191 and 209 for runner up place also made it the premier event. Nine time national champ­i­on Sabeena Athica also qualified for women’s singles event.
