Shot in the arm for Gagan Narang’s initiative

Gagan Narang’s Project Leap, conceived to identify and train young shooters, will join hands with Olympic Gold Quest, it was announced on Wednesday.

CHENNAI: Gagan Narang’s Project Leap, conceived to identify and train young shooters, will join hands with Olympic Gold Quest, it was announced on Wednesday. Narang said he is looking forward to the alliance.

“I am happy that we were able to realise our long-term vision with the help of OGQ. Not only through funding but going much deeper into sports science, nutrition and recovery. This association further strengthens my belief in OGQ which goes beyond financial help, into taking care of the emotional well being and eco system around the athlete.”

His views were echoed by OGQ CEO Viren Rasquinha. “What attracted us to the project is the strong scientific processes, implementation plans, and the long term vision which aligns with the OGQ Junior scholarship programme.”

The project began by selecting 23 — 12 girls and 11 boys — from 57 shortlisted shooters. Twelve are from Pune, three from Hyderabad and Secunderabad, two from Jabalpur and one each from Mumbai, Bhubaneshwar and Gujarat.
