CHENNAI: Santhome HSS hoopsters emerged winners during the Dr KCG Memorial Tamil Nadu inter-school tournament, held at KCG College. PSBB, Girgambakkam, Chennai finished runners-up. Saravanapriyan of Santhome HSS was adjudged as the best player of the tournament.

Results: Football (winners): St Gabriel HSS, Broadway; Runners-up: Sri RamaKrishna Mission HSS, Chengelpet. Volleyball (winners): GHSS, Periyapalayam; Runners-up: Pachayappa’s HSS, Kanchipuram. Basketball (winners): Santhome HSS, Chennai; Runners-up: PSBB, Girgambakkam, Chennai.

Purusothaman cracks ton

N Purusothaman’s blistering 129 guided National Recreation Club to a 99-run victory over Comrades Cricket Club in the TNCA fifth Division league match. Meanwhile, Venkat CC rode on D Shiva Kumar’s 83 to beat TV Sivaprakasam Memorial Sports Club by 48 runs.

Volleyball teams honoured

Tamil Nadu sub-junior volleyball girls team won silver medal at the 40th sub-junior national championships while boys team stood fourth. Both the teams were felicitated by the state association.
