Anett Kontaveit surges in rankings after maiden title

PARIS: Estonia's Anett Kontaveit jumped 13 places in the latest WTA rankings released on Monday to a career high 36th after scooping her first title at the weekend.

The 21-year-old from Tallinn routed Russia's Natalia Vikhlyantseva, 20, in straight sets in the grasscourt 's-Hertogenbosch tournament in the Netherlands to continue her strong 2017 form.

Kontaveit finished runner-up on clay in Biel in April and has also recorded wins over world number one Angelique Kerber and 2016 French Open champion Garbine Muguruza this season.
