HYDERABAD: After a lot of suspense and stirring up protests by Telangana supporters, the film ‘Jai Bolo Telangana’ has received the clearance by the Censor Board. The movie which is based on the Telangana agitation and is directed by N Shankar will now be released on February 4 with an ‘A’ certification and after undergoing about 10 cuts.
The five member team of the Regional Censor Board of the state had earlier failed to make a decision on issuing a clearance as a few members had reportedly raised strong objections against certain portions of the film. The film was then sent to a specially appointed nine-member revising committee of the Central Board of Film Certification with due permission from the CBFC, Mumbai to take the final decision.
This committee is learnt to have recommended certain cuts and releasing the movie with an ‘A’ certification.
The director N.Shankar said that he will abide by the order of the CBFC. “I want the movie to release soon so that the people can watch it. I have agreed for the cuts only for this reason. We will make the necessary changes to the film,” he said.
CBFC regional officer A Dhanalakshmi said that only after the Board views the final copy of the film will it be approved for release. She said: “We told the director of the movie that the film can be given a ‘U’ certification if it undergoes more cuts or he could go ahead with the ‘A’ certification. He preferred the ‘A’ certification, which is usually given for movies which have objectionable sex or violent content in it. But in this case, we felt that a mature audience would be able to appreciate the film better.”
However, she refused to divulge the details of the portions of the film that are to be deleted or altered till the final revised copy is submitted.
