HYDERABAD: Telangana employees of the state government are in no mood to call off their ongoing non-cooperation movement unless there is a firm assurance from the Centre on formation of separate Telangana state. Moreover, they have decided to go on a flash strike from March 5 in case the state government tries to pressure them to work.

The steering committee of Telangana Joint Action Committee of Employees, Teachers and Workers, which met here yesterday, announced that they would not call off the non-cooperation movement without an assurance from the Centre even if the state government decides to withhold their salaries. “We will not relent until the central government keeps its promise and create separate Telangana state. We will continue our agitation and even intensify it over the next a few days,” said Deviprasad, TJAC’s general secretary.

Later in the evening, the employees called on chief secretary SV Prasad and conveyed their decision. They urged him to withdraw the condition asking employees in Telangana region to give a ‘self-declaration’ that they did not participate in the non-cooperation movement so as to receive their salaries.

They said that the chief secretary positively responded to their plea.

Among their other demands were a meeting of TJAC employees with prime minister Manmohan Singh, immediate steps for implementation of GO 610, amendment to the Presidential Order to include Hyderabad in Zone VI and reservation of government jobs to Telangana candidates on the basis of population.
