KADAPA: In the native district of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, his family turned up in strength at his memorial in Idupulayapaya.

Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, his mother Y S Vijayalakshmi, wife Y S Bharati, sister Sharmila, brother-in-law Anil Kumar and the extended family placed flowers on the grave and spent 30 minutes in solemn reflection.

A one-hour service followed at a church on the estate.

During the observances, Jagan did not speak with anyone, while his mother was tearful during the prayer.

After the day’s events, Jagan appeared outside his guesthouse to wave to his supporters that had gathered there but did not respond to media requests for soundbites.

About 30,000 people visited YSR Ghat including several close relatives of the family such as YV Subba Reddy, former mayor P Ravindranath Reddy, YS Bhaskar Reddy, YS Avinash Reddy and EC Gangi Reddy.

There were several Jagan loyalist MLAs too: C Adinarayana Reddy, G Srikanth Reddy, K Srinivasulu Reddy, A Amarnath Reddy, A Ramakrishna Reddy, and MLCs C Narayana Reddy, P Padmavathi and others.

Later, Jagan and his mother along with family members left for Bangalore by road.

Along the way, he stopped at Kothapalle in Vemula mandal when hailed down by his uncle YS Vivekananda Reddy, whose padayatra in honour of YSR was on its way to Idupulapaya.

They had a brief interaction, after which both went their way.
