6-year-old run over by school van

Searching for a dropped Rs 1 coin given to her by her parents, to buy a piece of peppermint, a 6-year-old kindergarten girl came under the wheels of her school van and died instantaneously.

Bathulapalle police said, C Sivalakshmi of Cherlopalle village in Bathulapalle mandal was studying at the Vijetha Vidya Niketan school located at mandal headquarters. As the girl was throwing a tantrum and refusing to board the schoolbus on Saturday morning, her parents Krishna and Shailaja gave her a rupee coin and coaxed her to board the van.

That was the last time her parents saw her alive. After reaching school, Sivalakshmi along with other children got down from the bus, but the `1 coin she was holding on to slipped and fell down. While the girl was searching for the coin at the rear of the school van, the driver Nazeer Pasha reversed the vehicle.
