August 20 fresh deadline for Telangana: KCR

TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has broken his silence and announced that he will declare a fresh action plan to intensify the agitation for Telangana state if the Centre fails to give statehood to the region by August 20.

Asking ‘Delhi’ to decide whether it would form a separate Telangana state or face political death, he declared that they would show the Telangana Viswarupam to Delhi by intensifying the agitation.

Speaking at a farewell function organised by the Hyderabad central union of Telangana Non Gazetted Officers (TNGOs) Association for its former president K Swami Goud who has retired from government service, the TRS chief said they had been conducting the movement in a strategic way for the last 12 years.

Heeding prime minister Manmohan Singh’s appeal, they had called off the 42-day historical Sakala Janula Samme to restore peace in the region. “Delhi leaders have been regularly in touch with me and have given hints of Centre agreeing to create Telangana state,’’ he claimed.

“We will wait for five to ten days after August 20. After that we will sit together and hold a series of meetings to prepare an action plan to intensify the agitation.”
